Earning A Living Online: Building An Audience On Blog Talk Radio

The best way to earn a living with Blog Talk Radio is to build a loyal audience.  Building an audience can be quite challenging, but following a few marketing basics will get you where you need to be.  Simple things like picking a niche, building a network of friends, and defining your target audience will go along way towards building your listener base and making your show as popular as can be.  Before you can initiate these strategies, it's important to understand how to do them in regards to your Blog Talk Radio show.

Picking A Niche

Picking a niche is the first step toward building your show.  Blog Talk Radio broadcasts many different shows on a daily basis, and if you want to stand out from the crowd, your show will have to be themed on a main subject.  General topics that can be broken down into different sub-topics are usually the best subjects to theme your show around, because it will keep your show from getting old and stale.  You may be asking yourself, "Why can't I talk about whatever subjects I'm in the mood for?".  The reason why it's important to stick to one main subject is because your listeners may not always be interested in the topics you choose.  If you pick unpopular topics you may wind up with a show with no listeners, so to avoid this it's better to find one subject you know your listeners will be interested in and stick to it.  The last part about picking your niche is deciding on the name of your show.  The name of your show should be easily identifiable with the theme of the show, so new listeners will know what your shows about.

Building A Network Of Friends

Hosting a radio show on Blog Talk Radio is not easy for one person to do.  There are many facets of putting together a good show that one person may feel overwhelmed by.  Building a network of friends is the easiest way to make sure you can handle everything.  Think of your friends and family members that you trust and get along with, its only logical to ask these people to help you with your show.  A good rule of thumb is to have at least three people you can depend on to help run your show for a certain day of the week.  If you plan on putting on multiple shows every week, you may have to enlist the help of more people because your friends and family may not be able to meet your scheduling requirements.  At most your network should consist of no more than 12 people.  Anything larger than this will stretch you too thin, and you may start to have break downs in communication.  Once you have your network of friends together be sure to stay in contact with them, so you work with them more easily.

Defining Your Target Audience

Defining your target audience is extremely important towards the success of your show.  Your target audience will be the people you know will be interested in listening to the main subject of your show.  Once you have an idea of the kid of person who will be interested in listening to your show, you can start focusing your advertising to this person.  For example, if your show is about poker then your target audience will probably be the type of people who play on online poker sites.  In order to market to these people, you will probably want to join an online poker sites, and post bulletins in the site advertising your show.  If there is a particularly good poker player on the site, you might be able to invite them as a special guest to your show, and have advertise this to the other members.  No matter what subject you pick for your show, there should be a group of people you can advertise to, and knowing which group will save you a lot of time an effort in marketing your show.

Utilizing these three simple strategies will help you build your audience.  Building the largest audience possible for your show, will help you increase your earnings on Blog Talk Radio.  If you are serious about earning a living on Blog Talk Radio, than you will want to familiarize yourself with these strategies, and master them as quickly as possible.  On my next post I will go into some detail about Blog Talk Radio's affiliate program.  This program is a second way of generating big earnings on Blog Talk Radio, so you don't want to miss this post.  If you are still procrastinating about starting your own show then visit the link below and get started slow poke.  You are missing out on a great earning opportunity.
